Leatherman® was founded in 1983 in Portland, Oregon by Timothy S. Leatherman. He partnered with his friend Steve Berliner to develop multi-cool called Pocket Survival. Later on they added more tools, knives and others, and nowdays the company produces over thirty products. Leatherman could use his education as he graduated from mechanical engineering on Oregon State University.
