SAWYER® Foam Filter S2

Let's enjoy a crystal clear water anywhere in the world with the Sawyer Select filters. The filtration systems marked S1, S2 or S3 remove practically all contaminants found in fresh water and improve the water smell and flavour. These three models combine the patented foam membrane and a sturdy silicon bottle with the Sawyer hollow fibre (0.1 micron) filter. These filters allow access to pure water while you are travelling anywhere in the world, at home, in the office or in emergency situations.

Modern technologies in our hands

The used absorption foam technology was developed in collaboration with Foamulations LLC in order to be able to eliminate undesirable contamination and to improve the water's taste and smell. The absorption filtration is a process where molecules stick to the foam membrane surface. This highly advanced process in combination with the absolute filter with 0.1 micron pores ensure that all particles bigger than 0.1 micron are filtered out to include bacteria, protozoa and other impurities and sediments.

Filters out practically anything but watch out for heavy metals

All three Sawyer foam filters (S1, S2, S3) reduce the amount of chemicals to 0.5 unit per billion (which means a 40 times lower value than the EPA maximum recommended level) and the content of pesticides to 0.01 unit per billion (which means a 400 times lower value than the EPA maximum recommended level). Moreover, the S2 filter filters out 99.99% of viruses. As a bonus, we get a significant improvement in the taste and smell of the water. For example, if we travel places where water contaminated with viruses (rotavirus, hepatitis, etc.) poses a risk, then Sawyer S1 will definitely be the right choice for you.

How to do it

Unscrew filter, fill bottle to the max mark and screw the filter back on. Squeeze and release the bottle for about 10 seconds. Then you can drink straight from the filter or pour/filter the water into another container, for example a mug or your field mess kit.
