Oakley® was founded in 1975 in the USA so they have been around for almost 50 years now. Since the 80´s of the last century the company started to cooperate with the US army for which they develop clothing and equipment to increase safety and comfort of the soldiers. Nowdays the company has over 600 patents especially for the eyewear and sports gear. Oakley® is currently part of the Italian EssilorLuxottica.
