The snow is gone. Now it´s time to put your hiking shoes now and enjoy the spring. Do you already know what´s your first spring trip going to be ? We will give you tips for 9 European hikes that you will certainly love. 

Where to go ?

The snow is melting and the hills are greener and greener. It is the right time to put your ski away and put on your hiking shoes instead. You don´t where to go ? We will give you tips for 9 European hikes that will be an inspiration for your future adventure trips.

1. Schiehallion mountain, Scotland 

Distance 10 km. Difficulty: easy

Do you need to get back in shape after the long winter, but your fitness is still not the best at the moment? Then walk up to Schiehallion mountain (Munro) that raises to 1083 may be the right choice. You will ascend linearly, ie up and down. This hike is not difficult and will take 4- 6 hours. On bright sunny day, you will have excellent views.

If there is a weather inversion, don´t worry, you will still get beautiful views. Scotland is beautiful in any season of the year so you will definitely not be deprived of nice experiences.

2. Haystacks, England

Distance 7.5 km. Difficulty: easy

Even this easy walk in Lake District National Park in England will please everybody who chooses to stretch his/her muscles slowly after the long winter. As already mentioned, it is relatively easy and straightforward walk without much of a steep climbing and very likely without snow in spring months, but we still recommend to bring waterproof shoes. 

You can manage this short distance hike within 2 – 3 hours even with short break. And what about views ? You will definitely be amazed by beautiful lake views as well as you can see beautiful mountains. If you prefer quiet, not difficult walks, you will definitely like this one.

3. Brecon Beacons, Wales

Distance 16 km. Difficulty: moderate 

Do you prefer during your hikes quiet time and less tourists? Then you will definitely like 16 km horseshoe ridge walk across Brecon Beacons National Park. And what´s more. You can take your four-legged buddy. 

This National Park offers number of different hikes, but one of the most spectacular is Horseshoe ridge walk. This classic Brecon Beacons walk taking in the Brecon Beacons highest peaks; Corn Du (873m), Pen y Fan (886m) , Cribyn (795m) and Fan y Big (719m). Be prepared for some some steep climbing, but you will be rewarded with beautiful views. This walk will take at least 5 – 6 hours.

4. Ruta Lagos de Saliencia, Somiedo, Spain

Distance 10 km. Difficulty: moderate with some elevation  

This hike can be found in northern Spain in Asturias region. The official name is Ruta Lagos de Saliencia or sometimes you can find it under the name The Saliencia Lakes Trail.

Recommended products

This loop hike takes around 3 hours, with some elevation gain and elevation loss. This hike is considered moderate to challenging. During this journey you can see beautiful mountain lakes and you will enjoy some steep climbing. When you´re lucky, you can see some wild animals (including bear), but very likely you will encounter cows or sheep.

If you love beautiful mountain views, this route is perfect for you, even though it is a quite challenging hike.

5. Lake Sorapis, Italy

Distance 12 km. Difficulty: easy to moderate 

Lago di Sorapis hike is one of the most beautiful hikes in Dolomites. It is hard to beat the views that this beautiful turquoise lake can offer. To get to the lake is definitely not boring walk because it is constant climbing up and down. This hike is 12 km long with 400 meters elevation and it will take you at least 4 hours. But be prepared for more hours because the scenery is just breathtaking and so you will be wanting to constantly take breaks and pictures.

6. Gorropu Canyon, Sardinia

Distance 10 km. Difficulty: moderate with challenging terrain 

If you decide to go to Sardinia, then in the heart of Sardinian Supramonte you will find Gorropu Canyon. The canyon is outside of civilization so there are no possibilities of buying food, etc., and therefore you need to carry all these things (including water of course) with you.

The complete hike will take around 5 – 7 hours and it is definitely not an easy hike. The very beggining of the hike is easy, however, after a while you will encounter part of the trail with massive and slippery boulders. The last bit is for experienced hikers. Although there is not much of elevation, the hike through this canyon is an experience you will never forget.

7.Monaco to Menton, Monaco

Distance 10 km. Difficulty: challenging costal walk 

Monaco is not typical hiking destination, however, if you go there, try this hike. On the eastern part of the city is a route known mostly by the locals. It is called Promenade Le Corbusier. This route goes from Monaco to Menton and then to Roquebrune – Cap – Martin. This walk along the Mediterranean Sea will take at least 2 hours. The best time to go there is spring when the temperatures are still pleasant. On the other hand, if you want to swim in the sea, the water will be still quite cold.

8. Suchá Belá, Slovak Paradise National Park, Slovakia

Distance 10 km. Difficulty: moderate with wooden ladders and challenging terrain  

Suché Belá trail is a nice natural trail in the Slovak Paradise National Park. However, this trail is not for everybody. Along the route you will find several wooden ladders and the terrain is also quite challenging. The spring is the best time to visit due to the fewer crowds which also means no queues in front of the ladders.

After a few moments of adrenaline you can take a break by the Misové Waterfalls, where you will see the source of the waterfalls flows from a height of 29.5 meters. You will need to be careful on this trail due to the high number of wooden trails, but it all pays off when you see the beautiful views of Slovak Paradise National Park.

9. Czech Switzerland 

Distance 10 km. Difficulty: easy/moderate 

And finally, our home destination. Who would not know Czech Switzerland National Park with is famous Pravčická brána ? This unique rock formation is the largest of its kind in Europe and the second largest in the world.

This trail, that takes around 4 hours, starts in Hřensko. It is up to you whether you go back from Pravčická brána, but you can carry on along Gabriela's path up to the magical village called Mezní Louka. You will go through the forest for the most part and the spring, when nature is awakening, is the best time to experience this adventure.
