Full Tang knife construction

The design of a fulltang knife means that the steel forming the blade runs the entire length of the knife and across its entire surface. The steel is therefore also part of the handle and we can see it around its perimeter.

A full tang knife from a Czech knife maker

There are several types of knives on the market, we all probably know the division into fixed and folding knives. Among ordinary tourists, folding knives are the ones that are used the most often, survival and army enthusiasts, however, usually prefer fixed knives for their rigid and durable construction and for speed of use. Among fixed knives, knives with "full tang" construction, which we will talk more about, occupy the leading position.

The full tang design knife is made of one piece of steel, which not only forms the blade, but is also part of the handle over the entire surface (we can see it around the perimeter of the handle). The steel is usually drilled in the place of holding, and the parts forming the handle are attached from both sides with the help of screws. Full tang knives tend to be a bit heavier, but this is amply compensated by their excellent stiffness and almost indestructibility. For these reasons, these knives are often recommended by experts, of course mainly for the interested ones who are serious about a knife.
