Combat helmet HJELM from NFM defines a new standard of equipment modularity and electronics integration without adding unnecessary excessive weight and volume—compared to older systems. Improved optimization features complement the ballistic shell and the Koroyd insert, which provide the highest levels of protection and comfort that are available today.
Essentials for a modern battlefield
A number of NFM HJELM helmets were developed as a ground infantry platform capable of integrating information technology while protecting against threats on battlefields. The foundation of this system is an internal liner system that comfortably and securely holds the helmet on the head. It is coupled with a light shell produced from the highest quality ballistic materials and each gram of performance is optimized using state-of-the-art processing techniques.
Edgemount and HASP What really defines the 4th generation of helmets is the EDGEMOUNT fastening system with a unique Helmet Attachment System Pattern (HASP).Unlike traditional rails and velcro panels that have limited attachment options and add material to the outside of the helmet (and thus weight and volume), independently whether the device is connected or not, HASP can only be integrated where it is needed.
Where is HASP better than Velcro
Most of the helmets on today's market use a mentioned Velcro system to attach labels or other IDs and equipment such as IFF devices, noctovizors, cameras or flashlights. The joint strength degrades with repeated using, so even Velcro joint, which could have been adequate when new, may fail over time. Its strength also depends on the compatibility of the counterpart on the fixed device, which can also lead to an unreliable connection.
High-strength composite materials NFM HASP replaces the stationary Velcro with a structural web of high-strength composite materials that provide a stronger and more reliable system throughout the helmet surface. The device can now be mechanically attached without worrying of the connection failure. The HASP is also removable, so it can be easily replaced in the field if it is damaged.
Edgemount versus rails: Less volume
Most generation III helmets use a rail system for attaching additional equipment to the helmet. The rails are heavier and require more material (thus volume and weight) than it is necessary when attaching less equipment—which happens often. The patented NFM Edgemount system provides flexibility to attach only the accessories that are desired. So if you only need a flashlight for a particular task, that it is all attached hardware.
Edgemount versus rails: Wires and connectors
Edgemount also provides means for integrating wires and connectors inside the helmet for sensor technologies. This gives soldiers and technology manufacturers the flexibility to optimize technologies configurations, while protecting cabling and connectors from being damaged or from a danger of getting caught in the surrounding objects if placed on the outside of the helmet.
Impact protection
The Koroyd tubes system minimizes the energy transmitted to the head when impacted, the tubes are immediately deformed during impact and thus absorb the maximum force. This unique behavior helps protect skull and brain against impacts, thus protecting the lives and health of users.
Excellent breathability and cooling
Air flows continuously through the open cells, while the hot air from the head can easily escape away, ensuring effective cooling and breathability even in the most unfavorable conditions.
Protection has never felt so light
The Koroyd system is formed by tubes with the thinnest walls in the world, the protective layer is thus 95 % air. This reduces the weight and increases comfort without compromising safety.
You can find the size of the helmet according to the measured values as shown below. Choose the smallest size into which you fit by the length and width but do not forget add a few more mm so the helmet does not push somewhere and also take into account what you want to wear under the helmet.
