M311 COMP: A compact novelty from ANV Knives

The Czech company ANV Knives (Acta Non Verba) has reduced the size of its iconic M311 Spelter knife and introduced the new M311 COMP, which follows on from this model. Although the M311 Spelter and M311 COMP knives belong to the same series, they differ at first glance in terms of size. The contour of the knife is 13% smaller in the new M311 COMP (with a final length of 235 mm). Despite its compact size, the M311 COMP is ready for a variety of extreme situations, which has been proven through extensive testing.

The result of long-term testing

The ANV Knives M311 COMP knife was long-term tested in various climatic conditions, including extreme ones, such as hot and dry, or on the contrary, hot and humid regions of Asia and very cold to freezing regions beyond the Arctic Circle. Based on the positive results of the tests, the manufacturer was able to demonstrate the knife to its customers, because it does not want to make compromises in any way – and with the M311 COMP knife, it does not have to.

The new M311 COMP is a continuation of the well-known M311 Spelter model, which was developed in cooperation with members of advanced air training units, Close Protection teams and special air operations.

The tried and tested features have remained

Despite the significant reduction in size and weight, the essentials of the M311 COMP knife have remained. We are mainly talking here about the Swedish Elmax steel, which belongs to the world's top – the fixed blade of the ANV Swedge type knife with the so-called full-tang construction is made from it.

It means that it is the same length as the knife itself and has a handle mounted on the top of it. This construction contributes to the overall stability of the knife. The icing on the cake is the hardened glass breaking point on the handle heel, which further increases the utility of the versatile knife.

Just like the M311 Spelter knife, the M311 COMP has a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) blade surface treatment that imitates the properties of a diamond, reduces blade glare and increases its surface resistance to corrosion. At the same time, it provides the blade with improved gliding properties.

The delivery of the M311 COMP knife also includes a solid kydex sheath with the ANV logo, which visually matches the overall concept of the knife.

It fits perfectly in the hand

Thanks to its ergonomic design, the handle fits perfectly in the hand and ensures a firm and secure grip. It is made of Micarta material, which is a trade name for high-density layered laminate that is pressed under high pressure – and thus the handle of the ANV Knives M311 COMP knife can be very durable.

The knife's durability is also increased by the fact that its structure is assembled with four screws in massive threaded bushings. These screws, like the knife blade itself, are equipped with DLC treatment. This is again something that the M311 COMP has carried over from its predecessor.

Design refinements

In addition to the functional side, the manufacturer also paid attention to the design side when developing the knife. As with the M311 Spelter knife, the ANV logo is printed on one side of the blade, and the M311 COMP | ELMAX | CZECH REPUBLIC sign on the other side. The delivery also includes a solid kydex sheath with the ANV logo, which visually matches the overall concept of the knife. This features a drain hole for easy maintenance as well as a belt loop for carrying the knife sheath.
